Organizational statements of the tournament


EVENT’S TARGET: Popularization of chess among children and teenagers. Improving skills in playing chess. Reminding of the chess player character – Master Czesław Błaszczak.
Furthermore, during the tournament another events will take place – a tournament of Master Błaszczak’s students and VIPs, and many integrated and recreational activities.

LOCATION: Conference rooms and the new gym in Gimnazjum nr 13 im. Unii Europejskiej at 1-3 Reja Street in Wrocław

ELIGIBLITY FOR PARTICIPATION:
Group A – SMURFS: children under the age of 8 (born in 2006 or younger),
Group B – GARGAMELS children under the age of 11 (born in 2003 or younger, player who possess at least IV chess category),
Group C – YOUNGSTERS: contestants under the age of 14 (born in 2000 or younger, player who possess at least II chess category or FIDE ratings),
Group D – JUNIORS: under the age of 18 (born in 1996 and younger, player who possess at least II chess category or FIDE ratings),
Group E –  AZRAELS: open, national raging <=1600
Group F – Students of Master Błaszczak and VIPs-people invited to join the game.
Tournaments C and D will be submitted to FIDE ratings.

Group A: SMURFS: under the age of 8 – 20-22.06.2014 – 7 rounds – 60'
Group B: GARGAMELS: under the age of 11 – 20-22.06.2014 – 7 rounds – 60'
Group C: YOUNGSTERS: under the age of 14 – 19-22.06.2014 – 9 rounds – 60’ + 30’’
Group D: JUNIORS: under the age of 18 – 19-22.06.2014 – 9 rounds – 60’ + 30’’
Group E: AZRAELS: open – 20-22.06.2014 – 7 rounds – 60'
Group F: Students of Master Błaszczak and VIPs – 21.06.2014 – 7 rounds – 15'.
Main groups (leading, best awarded): YOUNGSTERS and SMURFS.

THE TORNAMENTS RULES AND SCORE’S ASSESSMENT:
All games in the tournament are assessed according to current FIDE regulations and Laws of Chess. The tournament’s rules require recording moves during the game and using chess clock. The number of game points a player has scored decides about a place in the classification. In the case of scoring equal amount of points, the additional points will decide: small Buchholz, Buchholz, progress, the amount of victories, Berger, draw. In groups C and D, there is a possibility of achieving central categories while in groups A, B and E there is a possibility of gaining categories from V to II.
A player may be late for a round up to 30 minutes.
It is forbidden to offer or accept a draw before having made 15 moves on the chessboard.

FINANCIAL REGULATIONS:
Entrance fee: 60 zl in groups C and D, and 35 zl in groups A, B and E (classified and rating fees are included). Medallist of Polish Championship of 2014 and Medallist of  Europe and World Championship of 2013 are exempt from entrance fees.

AWARDS:
The winning players from each group receive the cup. Furthermore, in groups A, B, C and D, the best girl also wins the cup. In groups A, B, C and D medals are handed to three winning players, and in groups A and C the best three girls receive medals.

Diplomas are given in all groups from the first to the sixth places, and in groups A and C all contestants receive diplomas.

In groups A, B, C, D and E – at least 30% of all the participants in the group receive attractive prizes, in groups C and D for the first three places are cash prizes, whereas the other rewards are prized in gifts.

The female contestants who have received the cups or medals for the taken places will also get prizes, although they haven’t taken places among the top 30 per cent.

It is possible to order lunch on site – the meals will be provided in the school canteen. Moreover, there is ‘Pasaż Grunwaldzki’ – a shopping arcade nearby with restaurants and a cinema inside.
During the chess tournament, there is going to be a stall with literature and chess gadgets, and also a shop selling drinks and light snacks.

During the chess tournament, online webcast of chess parties is going to be carried out.
The final interpretation of the rules is one of the organizer.
